Quickstart
- Do we need any experience?
-
No, you do not need any canyoneering or rappelling experience.
- Basic rappelling and canyoneering skills will be taught throughout the day.
- Why don't you guys teach this course in a slot canyon?
- The goal of the day is not for us to give you a slot canyon experience, but rather to give your the experience necessary for you to have a slot canyon experience on your own.
- We need to be in a teachable environment where we can get in as many repetitions as possible so that you can practice your new skills and put your knowledge to the test while an experienced instructor can evaluate your performance.
-
How physically fit do I need to be?
-
Fitness helps! - canyoneering requires decent fitness as most canyons require hiking and scrambling and occasional swimming in addition to rappelling.
- The Subway and Orderville canyons are both 9-10 miles in length with swims, hiking and a few short rappels.
- Can Kids do Orderville and the Subway?
- Absolutely! Kids are natural hikers and climbers. They climb curtains and couches and when rock is present they climb that too. There is no better time for an introduction to the vertical world than when you are a kid.
- Keep in mind that this course is meant to make you able to do this trip as a team member but not necessarily as a canyon leader. If you do decide to take your kids or other inexperienced people down a canyon you are responsible for their safety.
- How young or old can you be to participate?
- We really don't have age limits as everyone is different. It's kind of a case by case basis. Let us know if you have specific concerns.
- Can people who are scared of heights enjoy Canyoneering?
- Absolutely! If you are willing to give it a shot. For some, it is a great way to overcome or at least face your fear. We like to say that there is good fear and bad fear. Good fear keeps you alive, whereas bad fear keeps you from doing things that you are capable of. Since your trip is private we can also tailor trips specifically for you.
- You should know by the end of the course weather you can handle a canyoneering trip pr not.
- do you provide transportation?
- As much as possible we try to provide transportation. We reserve the right to at times ask clients to drive their vehicle to the activities location.
