Guided Trips vs. Instruction—How to Choose
People often ask what the differences are between Guided Trips and Instruction and what would be best for them. Here is our answer:
Guided trips are for folks who would like to taste a sample of the adventure but do not want to deal with the logistics, planning, and safety issues inherent to the activity. Though you will learn the basics of rappelling or climbing a guided patron should not feel that they now can pursue the chosen activity on their own without further instruction or mentoring from a knowledgeable friend that you trust.
Instruction on the other hand is for people who have decided that they would like to pursue their new found sport on their own in the future. Instruction is less about the experience of say, climbing, and more about how to enjoy this activity while staying safe. Staying safe has everything to do with planning, logistics, decision making, risk management and experience.
Instruction Courses
In order to help you gain the skills needed to travel safely in the backcountry we have developed courses that are designed as progressional education units. Each course builds on the elements learned in the preceding course. If your skill level doesn't exactly fit the mold of a given course let us know what you would like to work on and we will tailor the course for you. Click on Climbing Instruction or Canyoneering Instruction for a complete list of Rock Climbing and Canyoneering courses.
Guided Trips
Our guided trips will give you the opportunity to experience a new self awareness as you challenge yourself to learn and experience new things in an amazing environment. You take in the grandeur and beauty while one of our guides leads the way dealing with decision making, logistics, route-finding and safety.
If our schedule doesn't match yours, you want a course tailored to your own needs, or simply want one on one instruction, then private guiding is for you. Contact us and let us know what would best suit you. We will accommodate your needs.
Our courses are set to run with a required number of people. If there are insufficient registrations we will give you the option to pay an additional charge or modify the course to allow it to run. We can also customize courses and pricing to accommodate larger groups and families. Click on Climbing Instruction or Canyoneering Instruction and then click on the course of interest for pricing.
